Reluctantly Decorating. Living Room.

Yes, you read the title correctly. I'm reluctantly decorating. Most gals I know can't wait to make their house a home. But I've been putting it off for a while. I grew up in South Carolina and I've always longed to move back home. I've been hesitant to finish decorating our house in Charlotte because it feels so final.

Bit by bit, I've fallen in love with the Charlotte skyline, met many fabulous friends, and become so thankful for our school and church. We are going to be here...for a long time...and I'm finally starting to believe this is a good thing. It's time to turn this house into a real home. Lots of love, laughter, and happiness fill this space. I'd really like for the rooms to reflect the joy that lives here!

Today, I've been hanging these bird prints. I spent hours getting the mats and frames just right and attaching hooks to the frames. Only to find out the hooks that came with the frames are not actually strong enough to support a 16" x 20" picture. grrrr... The new frames dwarf our corner cabinet. Perhaps when we select the last chair for this room, it will help balance things out...

Our living room was dark blue when we bought the house. It gets morning light and it was depressing. We painted it yellow and now it's my favorite spot in the house. The comfy chairs make it the perfect place to curl up with a good book! I always feel like I can truly rest in this space.

Do you see the basket in the corner? It's full of old china! I adore antique plates and these will make a lovely grouping on the wall!
Are you decorating? What are you working on? I'd love to know!

  1. It looks lovely. Our family room walls are yellow. I never would've picked it but was urged by a designer and I love it. I haven't done any decorating in 4 years and our bathroom could really use it!
