We all LOVE rafting! Our guide, Mike, was lots of fun and really made the trip exciting for the kids. We "surfed" by turning our raft around and going upstream into the rapids. My son loved it! He was waterlogged and laughing all at the same time! I'm pretty sure he wanted to fall out of the raft, but no such luck... maybe next time...
Following my daughter on the high ropes course was scary, but I watched her with amazement as she tackled each section of the course. She was determined and strong and graceful. I followed in her footsteps. At one point, she reached a section that is even hard for an adult to stretch too. I heard her say "this is scary" but there she was... all by herself ... 10 feet away... and she figured it out! And to my surprise, once I got up in the air, I was able to get over the height and just enjoy the challenge.
We also went ziplining! My son was so cute and confident on the Mega Zip! Flying through the air is both peaceful and exhilarating! Is that possible? Before our trip, I did not understand why anyone would want to strap themselves into a harness and step off a tower into midair. It sounded a bit crazy. All I know now is that I want to do it again...and soon!
If you are ever near Charlotte, spend a day at the Whitewater Center! There are so many activities that we want to try next time. (Mountain biking, war canoes, eco trekking, etc.) I told my husband that it was the strongest I'd felt in a long time. It felt so good to be able to conquer those challenges!
Back to Ready, Get Set, Go! :)
Here is my list of other outdoor activities:
A walk with my hubby.
A walk/run on a wooded path in our neighborhood.
A bike ride with my daughter.
Bike rides by myself! Now that my kids are back in school, it's easier to go for bike rides in the mornings.
I'll see you
again next week! You are welcome to leave note or link to let us now what you
are doing for the challenge! Whether you are just starting out or you've been
doing this for a while, I'm proud of you! Remember to be daring and try new things!
Ready, Get Set, Go!
xoxo

Wow! Sounds like a FABULOUS place! We'll have to check it out. And, as far as your challenge goes, YOU GO GIRL!
ReplyDeleteHey Elizabeth. That sounds like a fun day with your family! I have never rafted, roped or ziplined. I am not adventurous - except maybe for a roller coaster or two! We had a rocky start to the week - wasn't exactly the stress-free, kids-are-in-school week I planned, but managed to run with my husband last night. We have another 5K this weekend through the winery. We are hoping the rain holds off since it poured last year! Another gorgeous week weather-wise. Going to the beach later with my son so he can sail one more time. I'm sure I'll take a walk along the beach.
ReplyDeleteWOWEEEEE! Sounds like you were all brave and very adventurous!!! I am so impressed and glad to hear you are feeling strong again. Well done all of you!!!
ReplyDeleteI am just coming out of the other side of a rather nasty head cold but have managed my ten minutes today and might even do another ten!! I feel so much better than I did yesterday, I could have cried I felt so unwell.
I think you are doing amazingly well Elizabeth to say how bad you were feeling I am really inspired by you!!!
Jane xxxx
Maureen, I think you all would love it! Call us if you go!
ReplyDeleteJane, I'm sorry your week got off to a rocky start... hope things are getting settled now. Enjoy the winery 5K! I'll be sending sunny thoughts your way!
Jane, I am so glad you feel a little bit better today. Head colds are awful-- it's hard to do anything when your head is all stuffed up. ( I am glad you are out moving a bit! Fresh air makes me feel better-I hope it helps you, too!)
That sounds like an absolute blast! Ziplining is so much fun...and then there is really nothing like watching your kiddo accomplish something difficult. Proud mama moment (c: Have a great weekend! So glad you can enjoy it with A/C!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! Sounds like you've been having a blast with your family.
ReplyDeleteAubrey and Katie, Thanks so much for stopping by!
