So here is our summer in a nutshell.
Travel:
Spartanburg, SC for a couple of weeks to visit my family. My nephews were there too!:)
The kids and I went to Isle of Palms for a week in August.
My hubby and I went to Charleston for a quick getaway. The Killer's concert at Daniel Island was awesome!
San Francisco for a week. My husband went out for a conference and I tagged along.
The Ups:
Celebrated my daughter's birthday with a Ben and Jerry's birthday party!
Went to the White Water Rafting Center right before school started.
Celebrated our son's birthday at Carowinds.
Saw my cousin who lives in Seattle when we were in SC.
My parents took me to the mountains for my birthday. We shopped, had a great lunch on the porch at The Wrinkled Egg, and enjoyed ice cream at Piggys.
Went to boy scout camp for parent night. Always so nice for a mom to see that her son is enjoying every moment and not getting sunburned:)
Celebrated our 18th Anniversary.
Spent lots of time with my sister and my nephews.
My children went to Washington DC for a week with my sister.
Playing racketball with my family...finally found a sport we all love!
Going to the Farmer's Market.
Meeting the author, Mary Alice Monroe.
Spending time with college buddies and their children.
Went tubing with friends in Todd, NC.
Robin Mark came to our church for a mini concert!
Bowling with our youth group...love those kids!
Time with dear friends.
The Downs:
My son was sick on Little Polka Dot's birthday. His fever was high and lasted several days. This resulted in blood work and some tests at the hospital. It was a long scary week and fortunately everything turned out okay.
I got a little cranky at Isle of Palms. Me in a condo for a week with lots of people...even people I dearly love, is just not a good setting. So I had a good cry and a little flip out moment in front of my mom and then everything was better.
Music I loved this summer:
The Killer's Miss Atomic Bomb.
Avicii's Wake Me Up
Ryan Scarborough's album, Working to Build.
YouTube favorites:
Kid President's-- A pep talk from Kid President to You
Already Falling--- a beautiful dance from the Academy of Dance Arts.
So now, it's your turn! What have you been doing lately? I would love to know. I hope you all are doing well and I look forward to catching up with you!
xoxo,
Elizabeth

ReplyDeleteSo good to see you, too!
DeleteSO pleased to hear from you and WOWEEEE you've been one busy lady!! It all sounds amazing...even the flip out! These things happen and I believe are a release valve or we would explode : ) Your mum I am sure would totally understand. I have loved reading this post but now need a lay down to recover LOL! Bet the Killers are amazing live! Happy to hear that your lovely boy is well again now...what a worry these things are as we love them so. Doing a little happy dance now that you are back...missed you. Take care my lovely friend xxxx
ReplyDeleteHi Jane! After writing this post, I decided not to include a zillion pictures because it might be like those days when folks invite you over to see the slides from their vacation! This post will serve as my written scrapbook since I am NOT a scrapbooker! I have missed you, too!
DeleteWelcome back Elizabeth! It sounds like a great summer. Good for you for unplugging. I admit I have a hard time doing it! You had some wonderful travels this summer! My husband and I have never traveled more than one night. In 20+ years! But we have enjoyed time together this fall after a very busy summer. We did a lot of sailing and are getting better sailing the Hobie. That is when we truly disconnect - I love being out on the water. We are not sure if we will get back on before we store it for the season. Weather-wise, Cleveland did not have the best summer - very humid, very cloudy, and rainy. And now we are having a chilly fall! It was a summer of baseball for Billy and they won their city league. First time ever and it was fun to watch! The boys on the team had a great time with each other. When baseball ended, it felt strange not to be going to games. I don't know if I could be in a condo or house with a number of people. I hardly have ever done that. We need our space. Even our annual family reunion - we are all in separate hotel rooms. But we are still together a lot! Good for you for doing such fun things and spending time with family and the kids. How scary about your son but glad to hear all is ok. We all are back at school, which has given me time to organize my business (not so much my house!) But we also had a sad start when an 18 year old boy in our community died. It was so heartbreaking and I still think about the family every day. Life is full of so many ups and downs isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHi Jane! Thank you so much for catching me up on your summer! Hooray for Billy and his teammates... I am sure it will be a moment in time that they remember forever! I am so glad you could get out on the water and enjoy time with your husband. Reconnecting with someone you love while you disconnect with the world is so important. I am so sorry to hear that your community lost a child. I can not imagine... I have seen communities grow stronger after such sadness. You just want to wrap your arms around the parents. We lost a precious girl in our church when I was in college. I still think about her most days . Her parents are dear friends of my parents and I am always amazed at their strength.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a good weekend. I have missed you!
Elizabeth
What a great way to catch up your readers! It's important to take breaks and a good reminder that people are here when you get back.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing to unplug...I often tell myself to do it more often! Glad you got to get away a bit and glad everything turned out well with your son. Happy Weekend :) Happy Fall!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a great summer with lots of travel and lots of memories. AND I'm so glad you're back to blogging! <3
