Tutorial: Dress Up A Plant

Hello, Sweet Friends!

Today, I'd like to show you how to Dress Up A Plant! This idea is so easy and cute!
Buy a small plant at your local greenhouse or home improvement store. You may already have the other supplies at home.

I made these for my daughter's delightful Girl Scout Leaders.

Before

Supplies:

Plants...I picked out festive annuals at our local market.
Wax Paper
Colorful Fabric
Pinking Shears (Regular fabric scissors will work, too!)

Directions:

Step 1
Cut a square of fabric. Make it large enough for your plant to be in the center and the edges to fold up and cover the top of your pot. Do not stress over this. It does not have to be a perfect square.

Step 1

Step 2
Cut a piece of wax paper (smaller than your fabric square). This will go between your pot and the fabric to protect your fabric from the soil.

Step 2

Step 3
Cut a strip of fabric. (About 24" long x 1" wide.) This will be your "ribbon".

Step 3

Step 4
Gather the fabric around the pot... you may need extra help...ask your children to hold the fabric while you wrap the fabric ribbon around the pot.

Step 5
Once the fabric has been tied in place, gently pull the edges of the square upward. You don't want the bottom to sag. After pulling the edges upward, you may have so much extra fabric on top that you need to trim a little off. Trimming the excess will keep the fabric from flopping over.

Step 5

Step 6
Also trim the edges of your fabric ribbon. I like to leave the stray strands of fabric...makes it "shabby chic"!

Step 6

That's it! Now you know how to Dress Up a Plant! Go share your gift with someone special!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a happy day!
Elizabeth
