A Heavy Heart

This post was going to be light and airy today, introducing a new line of bows. But I have something weighing on my mind. It is not fun to talk about. It is not pleasant to write about, but I feel like I need to share it with you.
A childhood friend took her life a few days ago. We were not close, but in a small town, you know everyone and she was a girl who everyone loved. Always had a sunny smile and nice compliment to share. A friend to so many people. I just can not get her off of my mind. She left behind a family who adored her and friends who would have done anything to help her.
Life can be difficult. It can be sad and lonely and often overwhelming. Please don't let yourself or someone you love get to the point where there is no hope. Let the special people in your life know you love them. Hug them tightly and be there when they need you.
Your life is so precious and you are here on this earth for a reason. If you don't feel that at this moment, talk with your friends and family. Let them love you and hold you up until you are feeling better. Seek the services of a professional counselor who can help you feel hopeful and help you see that you can have joy in life again. Many churches and community groups can help you find support.
As I write this, I am reminded of times that my dear friends and family have lifted me up. I think of times when my friends have confided in me and I've been there for them. And regretfully, I think of other times when I could have been more understanding, less busy, and supported them more. Thankfully, we always have new opportunities to share our love with friends and family. I plan to make the most of these times.

I promise a lighter post next time,
Elizabeth

  4. Elizabeth, I'm so sorry. It is one of the most tragic ways to lose someone. For those left behind, they must wonder "why" or "what did we do" or "what could we have done." And for a person to take their own life - well, it's just so hard to imagine. I've known parents who struggled with the loss of a child and I simply can't imagine the pain. There are amazing resources available - if we can only reach those in need. I'm so glad we live in this time because we have made many advances in mental health science. Support of those around us is key. I've had a lot of experience with it in my own family and also know of those who struggle still....it's very hard and very scary. I understand how you can be very upset by this because it is such a tragedy. Thinking of you.

  5. It's so sad, you never know what someone is going through or a depression that is eating at them. I'm sorry to hear about the woman that you knew, how sad for her family!
