Favorite Things Party with My College Friends

Converse Girl's Weekend
Charleston, SC

Most of you know that my college buddies get together two weekends each year. We all agree that it is one of the best things in life! We have known each other since our days at Converse. (Our 20th reunion is this year.) We ride the roller coaster of life together! Celebrating the highs and comforting each other through the lows. Boy do these girls make the lows better! They will always be my girls. No matter where we are, the nights always end with us in our pajamas eating snacks, sharing stories, and laughing...laughing alot!
We ventured to Charleston last Spring and had a Favorite Things party! I'd love to share our favorites! Some of our dear friends could not go and we missed them so much! It was a party of 6 this time.

We brought 5 of our Favorite Things (under$10) to share with our friends!

Ashley shared Scales Margarita Mix...yummy!
Kirsten gave us purple water bottles with a hidden space for a key and credit cards.
Perfect for long walks in the city!
Ashley (we have 2 Ashleys!) brought cute bottles of Essie Nail Polish.
Such happy colors!
Martha gifted us with Lolailo Sangria...delicious!
Hope treated us to a favorite from her college days... a scalp massager!
My friends will thank me for not adding silly photos here:)
I brought colorful paper straws, Junior Mints, and pink pencils with cute sayings.
(Be Silly, Be Charming, Be Stylish, Be Kind, etc.)

This was so much fun! These treats have been a fun reminder of our trip to Charleston! Thank you for the wonderful idea, Hope!  And thank you for sharing your pictures, Ashley!

Now I have a question for you? What would you bring to a Favorite Things party?
I'd love to know!
xoxo, Elizabeth

A wonderful surprise has arrived in the mail! I won these heavenly goodies in the Little Black Door  giveaway! Delightful soap from Barr-Co Soap Shop and a gorgeous Simpatico candle. You can find these at K. Hall Designs in St. Louis.  They are beautifully made and smell delicious! Thank you so much, Elizabeth! We are truly enjoying them. Every mom wants her home to smell nice... these are perfect!

I adore Elizabeth and her blog, Little Black Door. She is witty, creative, and always "down to earth". When you are in need of some charming decorating inspiration, hop on over to her blog. Stitch Fix Review #1 A Colorful Spring Dress

Hi Friends! I hope you all are doing well and looking forward to a great week! The last two days in Charlotte have been sunny and warm. Spring is on the way!

I needed a new Spring dress for my upcoming college reunion, so I thought I would give Stitch Fix a try. I do not like shopping for clothes. When I discovered a box of clothes selected by a stylist especially for me could arrive at my doorstep, I did not hesitate!

Have you heard of Stitch Fix? A stylist sends you 5 items selected to fit you and your style...or help you branch out a little if you are in a rut. It is very easy!

1) Fill out a profile about sizes and styles you like. Give an estimate of the price you will to pay for tops, pants, dresses, etc. You can choose to receive all clothes or you can ask to receive jewelry, a handbag, or a scarf with your fix. You can leave a link to your Pinterest style page. There is also space for extra comments. I left this mini book for my stylist to read:)
"Love simple stylish things. Do not like big drape necklines or decorative zippers. Comfort over style most days, but if I can combine the two, that will be great! Love patterns, but nothing too bold or geometric! Love a-line skirts that are at least knee length but not fluffy skirts.  No lace, metallics, embellishments, or odd cutouts. Thank you!"

2) Schedule your fix. The $20 styling fee includes styling and postage to and from your home. If you keep at least one of your items, the styling fee is deducted from your item! For example,  if you keep a $30 scarf, you will only pay and additional $10.

3) When your fix arrives, you have 3 days to try your items and decide what to keep. The items you do not want are placed in a postage paid envelope that comes with your fix. Drop it in your mailbox to return to Stitch Fix.  If you decide to keep all 5 items, you get 25% off your total.

I was pretty excited when this box showed up at my door!

Here is a list of my goodies! I love the styling ideas to dress things up or down. You can try every piece with items you already have in your closet. This is my favorite thing about Stitch Fix!

41 Hawthorn Freddy Sleeveless Chiffon Dress $58 Perfect fit and color!
Katherine Barclay Nadia Ponte Pencil Skirt $98 Great color...too pricey!
Tart Benni Ikat Print Knit Shirt $84 Too crazy and bold for me.
Pomelo Ivy Colorblock Tab-Sleeve Blouse $68 This was a little big and I did not like the colorblocking.
Kensie Jeans Sophia Ankle Length Skinny Jean $88 Very comfy. Fit well except they needed another inch on top because I am tall. I do not want to tug at the back of my jeans when I sit down.

41 Hawthorn
Freddy Sleeveless Chiffon Dress $58

I kept the dress! It is comfortable and I love wearing bright colors! It will be perfect for Spring and Summer! And I love that it matches a long necklace my daughter gave me for Christmas:)
Overall, I was pleased with my first fix! It was fun and I have heard the stylists get to know you better with time and detailed feedback. All of the shirts cost more than I would normally spend on a top. Hopefully next time, the stylist will pay more attention to my prices. Also, I am not sure the stylist looked at my Pinterest style board, so I made a note of that when I left feedback.

If you hate shopping and want to try Stitch Fix, you are welcome to use my referral link. I will get a $25 credit if you sign up. I will not see who it is from, so if you do, please know that I am very appreciative! I hope your box is as much fun as mine has been!

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. I will reply right here on this post.

Hope you all have a wonderful week! Is it sunny in your town yet?

xoxo Elizabeth

The Wishing Tree. A Wonderful Summertime Read!

I love to read and today I would like to share a new book with you! The Wishing Tree by Marybeth Whalen is a delightful summertime read! It officially came out today, but I was one of the lucky ladies who got to read it first!

Most of the story takes place on Sunset Beach, NC. The main character, Ivy is asked to create a wishing tree for her sister's wedding. Each guest is asked to write a wish for the bride and groom. (How sweet is this tradition!) Unbeknownst to her family, Ivy has come home to the beach to get away from her own marriage. Will she rekindle a spark with her old beau? Will she try to work things out with her husband? You should read the book to find out! There is also a section at the back with book club questions. I can imagine a great discussion about our ideas of marriage and the wishes and dreams both people bring into a marriage.

The author, Marybeth Whalen, lives in Charlotte. Last year, my ladies group at church read her book, She Makes It Look Easy. We loved the book so much that we asked Marybeth to join us for a discussion. She came to our Christmas cookie exchange and we had the best time hearing about her life as an author, wife, and mom to 6 beautiful children! What struck me most about her is that she is real. Someone who loves her family and is truly interested in others. Someone who is busy and trying to find balance in life just like the rest of us. Her passion is writing and she is blessed to follow her dream! It was a treat to chat with her and share Christmas cookies together!

Have you read any great books lately? I would love to know! I just finished The Wishing Tree last night, so I need to find another book soon!

Hope you all have a happy day!

Crushing On Blue

My favorite color is blue. Navy, Aqua, Pastel, Royal.... I love them all! Most rooms in my home have a least a hint of blue. And my closet is filled with all shades of it. I even love blue ice cream. When my hubby and I were first married, we went to Baskin Robbins for ice cream. I tried a new flavor, Blue BubbleGum. As I enjoyed my yummy blue ice cream, my hubby took a look around the crowded shop and pointed out that every single kid in the place had the same shocking blue flavor that sat atop my cone! He still reminds me of that:)

Anyway, blue makes me happy!

Blue pottery in our den.

Loads of blue in my closet! Can you tell I like stripes?

My bike... I LOVE her!

What is your favorite color? Is it everywhere in your home, clothes, jewelry, or maybe your car? I'd love to know!
