Get excited for the first ever TAKEOVER WITH Little Polka Dot!

Today I want to talk about a new lego series for girls called Lego Friends. It's perfect for all girls and especially for girls with older brothers. I love this series because it has lots and lots of flowers and the designers put as many real legos in the sets as they can.

I like the characters because they all have different personalities and it's fun to try to guess which one is most like you.

I have multiples of some characters so my brother and I have come up with names for the twins and triplets.

Emma: Emily, Emerald
Andrea: Annie, Anna
Stephanie: Delanie, Lanie

Vintage Necklace

Hello!
Hope you all are having a happy Friday! I am enjoying my last few days of vacation. Polka Dot Skies will reopen soon, I promise!

Today, I'm wearing a colorful necklace that belonged to my spunky great-grandmother, Nannie. She always left home in a well put together outfit. I get compliments on this fun necklace every time I wear it and I'm always happy to say it belonged to Nannie. (Perhaps I'll be as stylish as she was one day!)

Friday Favorite. Itty Bitty Bag

Friday Favorite. Nest Pretty Things Kids

Daisy Necklace

Happy Friday! Today, I'm sharing one of my daughter's favorite shops, Nest Pretty Things Kids. My husband and I ordered this lovely Daisy Necklace to give Little Polka Dot before her Father Daughter dance at school. I thought it would be sweet for him to give her a treasure that would always remind her of how much she is loved and how much fun they had at the dance. She wears it almost eveyday. It looks great with so many colors.

The beautiful photographs in Nest Pretty Things Kids caught my eye the minute I found Etsy! Truly one of the prettiest shops I've seen. Sometimes, I stop by just to see all of the gorgeous new items! I recently purchased these Rosy Posy hair ties for Little Polka Dot. She likes to wear several at a time in her hair!

Friday Favorite. Pony and Poppy

Happy Friday! I'd love to share one of my favorite shops with you! Pony and Poppy is a very happy shop with delightful hand printed goodies. I found it while searching for a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law.  My husband instantly agreed that these cheerful kitchen towels would be great for his mom who loves to cook!

Amy is the lovely owner of Pony and Poppy. She is so kind and added a note in with our gift and shipped the towels right away. I always appreciate wonderful customer service! I can't wait for another reason to shop in this beautiful store.

The hard part will be deciding what to buy!

Last Christmas, I found the perfect little zip coin purse for my mom. It is black and white with a bright yellow bird on it! She keeps it in her bag and often thanks me for it. It's from a great shop, Antique Basket Lady. My twitter pal , Sue , makes lovely items!

This morning, we awoke to swirly whirly skies! I love this kind of day. It's a nice reminder that things change... life can get crazy for a little while... and then it smoothly settles down again. It also reminds me of one of my favorite paintings, The Starry Night. I hope to visit The Museum of Modern Art to see it one day! When I was an art teacher, my first graders learned about Vincent van Gogh and created a large Starry Night collage. It was always so much fun to see them working together on a project!

All is Well

Happy Friday! Did you all know I was an art teacher before I became a mom? I sure was, and I always enjoyed teaching my students about artists! If I was still in the classroom, I would introduce them to the inspiring artist who owns, Alice in Paris . Shelagh lives in the Canadian province, Nova Scotia. You can see the beautiful land in many of her paintings. I love the bright colors she uses in her work! So vivid and happy!

I recently purchased the Nova Scotia Sunset Cottage print. It looks beautiful in our yellow living room! It's truly difficult to choose a favorite because they are all so lovely.  Shelagh also paints gorgeous flowers! I really need to find the perfect spot for this fun Daisy Bouquet print .

Our family was recently blessed with three baby cousins. I was thrilled to find such cute monogrammed items for each baby. The best part was choosing the fabric! Three loves has a great variety of patterns for boys and girls. Those of you who know me well can imagine how long it took me to decide on the perfect fabric for each baby:)
